Lacefield Music School is very proud to have Jay Zabava, an incredibly skilled professional pianist now onboard!
“Jay walked into the school one Thursday afternoon and said he was interested in
teaching piano at Lacefield Music School. He had just moved into the area from New York
so he and his wife could be close to their grandchildren. I asked Jay to play something on
the piano for me, Jay sat down and started playing. I only needed to hear about ten
seconds to realize that this guy was one of the best piano players I had ever heard in my
life. Needless to say I hired him on the spot and I assigned him his first student...me.”
Vince Warren (Lacefield Music School Manager)
Jay Zabava has been a piano player all his life. As a teenager in New York he played out
on late night gigs with the older cats who taught him the things the books left out and
which, consequently, propelled him into his career as a musician. In the 70’s he toured
with a show band out of Las Vegas; the 80’s found him in Texas working in groups and
solo. During the 90’s he worked in Washington, DC and in Memphis, and in the new
millennium he was back in New York and New Jersey. Along the way he’s been recorded
in Albuquerque, Dallas, and Memphis; and taught piano to students of all ages and all
skill levels, from professional musicians to beginning students as well as other piano
teachers. As a teacher, he meets you at your current level of expertise and imparts both
the basics and subtleties of piano that will get you where you want to be.
